Is the Medicare Website a good resource for Medicare Supplement info?

I find the Medicare website is not a reliable source for up to date and comprehensive Medicare Supplement (MediGap) premiums.  Also, many of the companies are not listed in the site.

On the other hand, the Medicare website ( is a reliable and authoritative source of information about Medicare Advantage plans, along with Part D Rx plan information. The website provides comprehensive and up-to-date information about all aspects of Medicare Advantage and Part D coverage.

So if you are looking for a Medicare Supplement plan, I would stay away from, and try to find a private insurance website which keeps up to day company rate info along with plan coverage details.

Here are a few reasons why the Medicare website is a good source for Medicare Advantage plan information:

  1. Official Information: The Medicare website is the official online resource provided by the U.S. government’s Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). It offers accurate and trustworthy information about Medicare programs, including Medicare Advantage.
  2. Plan Details and Comparisons: The website provides detailed information about Medicare Advantage plans, including the various types of plans available, coverage options, benefits, costs, network providers, and prescription drug coverage (if applicable). It allows you to compare different plans to find the one that suits your needs.
  3. Plan Finder Tool: The Medicare website offers a Plan Finder tool that enables you to enter your zip code and specific details to compare different Medicare Advantage plans available in your area. This tool can help you understand the plans’ coverage, costs, and network providers, allowing you to make an informed decision.
  4. Updates and Changes: The Medicare website is regularly updated to reflect any changes in Medicare Advantage plans, including new plan options, coverage updates, costs, enrollment periods, and regulations. It’s a reliable source to stay informed about the latest developments related to Medicare Advantage.

While the Medicare website is a valuable resource, it’s also recommended to consult with a licensed insurance agent or broker specializing in Medicare Advantage plans. They can provide personalized guidance and help you navigate the specific details of Medicare Advantage plans based on your unique needs and circumstances.
