Part D Rx plan .. to help you pay for your prescriptions. You have the option to enroll in a different Part D Rx plan every fall during open-enrollment. You can also choose not to enroll in a Part D plan at all. If you wish to not be enrolled in an Rx plan, the soonest you can enroll again will be the following January 1. Also, be aware of the “penalty” for not participating in a Part D Rx plan. The penalty is 1% of the average premium plan, which is around $35 per month, times the number of months you went without coverage. This penalty is added to any future Part D plan premiums and is never removed.
Medicare Supplement plans do not include any drug coverage.
When choosing a medicare supplement policy, make sure you are provided with a rate comparison of the different companies for the plan you are interested in. Also, ask which companies are the easiest to work with, and have quick and accurate admin.
Enrolling in any of these plans/companies is quick and easy. There are online enrollments or a simple paper application, whichever you choose the approval shouldn’t take over a week. Once approved, the ID card and ‘welcome kit’ are printed and mailed directly to you.
