Blue Shield Medicare Supplement Plans in Riverside County

In Riverside County has plenty of Medicare Supplement plans to choose from.  Though one that seems to always rise to the top or near the top is Blue Shield.  Their new Plan F Extra which includes Vision and Hearing benefits, the popular Plan G and G Extra (also includes vision and hearing).  And of course the lower priced plan N.  All providing very comprehensive coverage and competitive southern California prices.

When looking for Riverside county rates, they are in Region 4 of the rate chart.

Also included with all Blue Shield Medicare Supplement plan are:

  • Silver Sneakers Fitness Program – No additional cost. Fitness memberships at Thousands of popular locations – no need to pick just one.
  • Teladoc – Talk to doctors by phone or video 24/7.  Get care when and where you need it through your Blue Shield health plan. Blue Shield members have access to Teladoc’s national network of U.S. board-certified physicians, licensed in California. Whenever you need care, Teladoc doctors are available 24/7 by phone or online video.
  • Over the Counter supplies – The OTC items benefit offers you a convenient way to get over-the-counter health and wellness products by mail.  Each plan that includes the OTC items benefit provides you with a quarterly allowance (a set amount) to purchase eligible OTC items. Order from a list of approved OTC items, and CVS OTC Health Solutions mails the items directly to your preferred address at no extra charge.

VISION:  (Medical Eye Services – MESVision)
1 eye exam every 12 months ($20 copay)
Eyeglass frame every 24 months ($100 allowance
Eyeglass lenses every 12 months ($25 copay)
Contact lenses every 12 months ($25 copay)

HEARING Air Services:  (Epic Hearing Health Care Providers Network)
Hearing aid exam every 12 months. 2 hearing aids per 12 months.
Vista Hearing Aids, models; 610 or 810. Up to two hearing aids per 12 months.
$499 for Vista 610 model and $799 for Vista 810 model.

With a Blue Shield Medicare Supplement plan you have access to these Riverside County hospitals:  Temecula Valley, Eisenhower, Inland Valley, Rancho Springs, Riverside Community, Desert Regional, Corona, JFK, Loma Linda in Murrieta, Hemet Valley.

Medicare Part D Rx plans …

You will also need to enroll in a separate Medicare part D Rx plan, which will help you pay for your prescription costs.  A good place to start you search is right here.  Simply email a list of your current medications along with the dosage and frequency.  I’ll enter the information into the Medicare system, to come up with the top 3 plans for your prescription list.  The results will show the best three plans for coverage and cost for your medications.  I will then email the results to you.

Birthday Rule …

we have what is called the Birthday rule with Medicare Supplement plans.  You are able to switch companies each year on your birthday regardless of your health status.

Medicare Advantage

2025 Medicare Advantage HMO & PPO – Aetna,  Anthem,  Blue Shield,  UnitedHealthcare,  Health Net.

Medicare Advantage typically include the Part D Rx coverage and have an “annual open enrollment period” which starts every October 15 and ends December 7.  The annual open enrollment period allows you to view the upcoming changes to your plan.  You can also compare other company plans benefits, doctor networks and Part D Rx plan benefits.  Any changes made during this time take effect on January 1.  If you are new to Medicare you have 3 months from your Medicare coverage start date, to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan which is called the “Initial Enrollment Period.”
