Redding Medicare Supplement plans in Shasta County include companies like; Blue Shield, Anthem, Aetna, Health Net and Mutual of Omaha. These Medigap companies typically provide some of the lowest premiums in all of California for Shasta County.
It’s good that Redding residents can enjoy the advantages of competitive premiums, because Redding and all of Shasta County only offers 3 Medicare Advantage plans, a PPO plan from Anthem and two HMO’s from UnitedHealthcare.
With this being the case, a Medicare member has two choices; 1, they can stay on original medicare and enroll in a Part D Rx plan, and pay the deductibles, percentages and other out of pocket costs which Medicare does not cover. Or, 2, you can enroll in a Medicare Supplement plan of your choice and feel very good that your out of pocket costs will be covered. And don’t forget about the Part D Rx plan.
See any doctor or hospital …
One of the greatest aspects of a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy is, there are no doctor/hospital networks. You can see any doctor, hospital, specialist or medical facility in the U.S. who accepts Medicare. That’s over 95% of all providers.
Call the doctors office … if they accept Medicare, you can see them.
Open-Enrollment …
Open Enrollment means you can enroll in a plan (guaranteed, regardless of your health status).
There are two ways to enroll in a Medicare Supplement. The easiest way is during your initial open enrollment period. This is when you first become eligible for Medicare. This is a 6 month open enrollment. Regardless of you health status you are eligible for any medicare supplement policy available in your state. During the open enrollment you do not need to answer any health, doctor or prescription questions on the enrollment form. Here are different open enrollment options.
The other way is to simply apply anytime of the year. You can change companies or enroll in a new medicare supplement at anytime, although you must answer the health history questions on he application. The company will review your current health status and past health history and either accept you as a new member, or decline the application. Call me anytime with questions regarding this process.
Part D Prescription Plan …
Along with your Medicare Supplement you will also need a Part D plan to help with your prescription costs. If you would like help with this process, simply email your prescription list to me and I will enter them into the Medicare system. The comparison will produce the top three plans for your medications. I will then forward the results to you for review. Here is more information regarding the Medicare Part D Rx plans.
Birthday Rule … In California we have what is called the Medicare Supplement Birthday rule. This rule allows you to switch companies each year on the month of your birthday regardless of your health status. You can move to the same plan or one with less benefits. If you wish to “upgrade” plan you will need to answer the health questions on the application.
Dental & Vistion Plans …
Most companies offer dental and or vision plans to its members. Here is information regarding the Anthem Extras which are their Dental & Vision plans. If you would like to see other companies please let me know.
